Education Projects

Northumbrian Earth has been working with various partners to develop and deliver interpretation and educational material for the local community. This ranges from research and project development as part of community schemes through work with adult natural history groups to delivering activity based geo-diversity lessons for schools.

Northumberland Coast AONB

Following on from the publication the temptingly named "Northumberland Coast AONB Geo-diversity Audit and Action Plan" in early 2010 Northumbrian Earth has every year delivered as series of geo-walks to support the action plan in widening access to interpretation of the geo-diversity of the coast. These walks have been highly successful with excellent attendance. You can see the planned walks for this year on our Geo-walks page.

Testimonials

  • "Ian Kille is an absolute authority on the geology of Northumberland. His knowledge is unmatched, his presentation is perfect and his enthusiasm is unbridled. Ian has lead a series of walks for us along the Northumberland Coast AONB over the last two years and every walk has been immensely enjoyable, thoroughly entertaining and incredibly educational. He is able to explain complex geological sequences across enormous timescales to young and old alike and has piqued a geological interest in many that has kept the audience coming back for all of his walks."
